It was indeed an honor and a privilege to be a part of the British School of Chicago Bulldogs Steps-A-Lot team which raises awareness and money for the Ann & Robert H. Lurie Children's Hospital. What started off five years ago with a handful of nervous steppers (including myself and Barkley the school mascot) has now become an annual event for our school with over 307 participants this year alone! Over the course of those five years we have raised a staggering $168,000. The "steppers" prepared for the event weeks in advance and were counting down the days until we endeavored to conquer the inner stairwells of the AON building. The Student Council representatives led the way in promoting this worthwhile cause - children helping children resonates with us all at BSC. Through all the sweat and aches we finally peered over the AON’s 80th floor with a real sense of pride and accomplishment. BSC works as a team both inside and outside of our school walls. Pupils, teachers and parents at the BSC scale one of the highest buildings in Chicago in true team spirit each year. Ultimately, this charitable Step-A-thon culminated in a check being presented in the school Gym for $36,868 to the hospital in front of all our caring sponsors, supporters and steppers. The proud parents of the Student Council representatives’ raised their cameras to capture the moment as this amazing total was revealed at last. This reward, while helping others, is unforgettable and we all look forward to next year when the Bulldogs-Steps-A-Gain for others.

Thank you to Georgia for her amazing write-up, Miss Stone and the Student Council for all of their hard work, and to the cheerleaders for putting on a great performance. We appreciate every participant and donor who helped us make this year's event such a resounding success!
