Year 6 Teacher

Having a mother who was a languages teacher and two grandparents who were head teachers, education very much runs in the family. From a young age, I knew teaching was the career for me, often playing "school" in my free time!

I grew up in Bristol, in southwest England, where my fondest memories are of my Primary School years and the teachers who taught me along the way.

After Secondary school, I took a gap year and spent three months volunteering in a township in South Africa. I helped in an orphanage and taught at a local school. This experience secured my love of teaching and working with children, and further encouraged me to enter education. Once I returned from South Africa, I went on to study Primary Education at Brighton University. During my four years there, I traveled to Nepal and taught there for a month.

Upon graduation I went straight into working as a supply teacher in Bristol and South Wales. For the next five years, I taught Year 4 and Year 5 in Hanham. I also served as Coordinator of the Gifted and Talented, Science, and English programs, and Head of Year 5.

In my spare time I enjoy reading, baking, and exploring new places. I am a very keen traveler, having visited Canada, India, Argentina, Bolivia and South Africa.
