Secondary Business & Economics

After completing my degree in Business and Finance, I pursued a career in industry and worked for YELL, a large multinational, initially handling other businesses’ adverts, then later specialising in SAP training.

I then decided to change my career to teaching and consequently returned to university to complete my PGCE in Business Education at the University of West of England, in Bristol.

My first teaching post was at a large inner-city comprehensive school in Bristol, where I gained valuable experience of the UK National Curriculum and teaching in a tough but very rewarding environment.

Over 10 years ago, I accepted an excellent opportunity to work in a new International School in Dubai. This opportunity gave me an exciting chance to explore a more diverse and international education setting. I thoroughly enjoy living and working in Dubai, especially the interaction with such a multiplicity of nationalities.

Having gained significant experience of teaching in international schools, I am well accustomed with the IGCSE and IBDP curriculum in the Commerce and IT subjects. As a keen educator of the IB Diploma programme, this interest enthused me to become an IBDP Business and Management Examiner.

In the classroom I am a firm promoter of child-centred learning.  I have a keen interest in learner centred curriculum and aspiration for supporting all children to succeed through enjoyable and independent learning opportunities.  I thoroughly believe in the importance of giving positive praise and encouragement to children promoting independent learning and also inspiring enquiry based learning.

I am delighted to be working at NAS Dubai with such a proficient and enthusiastic team.
