OUR SECONDARY CURRICULUM

At Secondary, our students follow the English National Curriculum, which culminates in their IGCSE exams in Year 11. The transition to Secondary school can be a big step and we make sure that each student has the support they need to adapt to a more challenging curriculum.

Guided by our specialist subject teachers, our students learn to apply knowledge and understanding to new and familiar situations, to enquire intellectually, and to develop cultural awareness as global citizens.

LEARNING IN THE SPECIALIST SUBJECTS

In Lower Secondary, our Year 7 and 8 students delve deeper into a wide range of subjects. Lessons are delivered by specialists, supported by a class tutor who’s responsible for each learner’s academic and social development. Your child’s tutor will also deliver moral education and social studies, which includes global citizenship and PSHE.

Every student studies: Arabic, art, computer science, design technology, drama, English, French, geography, German, history, Islamic studies, Mandarin, mathematics, music, PE, science, Spanish, and our DICE curriculum (Design, Innovation, Computing, Enterprise).

Your child will choose their IGCSE options in Year 8 before beginning their programme of study in Year 9. The subject choices they make can affect university options, and our staff are always on hand to guide you through the process.

In Years 9, 10, and 11, our students work toward their IGCSE exams. Guided by our highly qualified teachers, your child will develop the skills, understanding, and knowledge they need to achieve outstanding results.

We offer a wide variety of courses, which are designed to engage and challenge. These include core and optional subjects over a three-year period. We encourage our learners to take their exams early (in Year 10), which allows them greater flexibility, as well as the opportunity to increase the number of courses they follow.

All our students take English language and literature, maths, science, humanities, and a language. They then choose their options from established blocks. We offer a wide range of choices so that each child can tailor their learning journey.
