I graduated from Dundee University, Scotland, in 2006 with a Bachelor of Education Honours Degree. Since graduating, I have taught across all stages of the primary school which has given me the opportunity to work with children of all ages.
Encouraging creativity is an intrinsic aspect of my teaching style. I feel it is important for the classroom environment to be welcoming, stimulating and motivating for the child. I therefore ensure each and every child’s work is celebrated at all times with exciting or interesting displays. I always try to inspire the children to identify with their own way of learning, giving them the correct tools to reach their full potential. I love to see their ‘happy face’ when they have achieved something that they perhaps did not think was possible.
I have a passion for ICT and technology. I love helping the children to use this across the curriculum, motivating them to succeed and providing them with an enjoyable learning experience. I have taken on various additional roles throughout my career, including ICT & Science coordinators. I have led a range of ICT workshops and have had a key role implementing the letters and sounds phonics programme in my current setting.
When I am not at school, I like to keep busy by learning new things, socialising with friends or going to a mixture of music festivals and concerts. I have more recently found enjoyment (and pain!) in attending crossfit classes.
I am excited about being part of the Year 6 Team at Nord Anglia International School Dubai and look forward to meeting new staff and students each year.
