Staff Profile: Denica Howell

DHO HOWELL Denica Primary and Secondary

Head of Academic PE

Sport and Physical Education has always been Denica’s passion, as a keen sportsperson who played regional hockey and competitive netball, rounders and swimming. Studying at Chichester institute of higher education, she completed a four-year Physical Education degree BA (QTS). Denica has worked pastorally as a head of year and, more recently, as Team Leader for Physical Education and Performing Arts. She also completed a PGCSE in Innovation in Education and a Masters in Teaching and Learning. 

Denica joined NAIS Pudong in September 2014; this is her first international posting and she is excited for the new challenge. Inspiring and motivating all students to achieve their full potential, both on and off the field, is at the heart of what she wants to achieve. She is motivated to instil in children the enjoyment and the willingness to succeed whatever their chosen sport or activity. 

Denica has two sons in Year 5 and 1 who thoroughly enjoy all aspect of school life in the classroom and on the sports field. She enjoys travelling and embracing the cultural diversity that is all around in China. One of her passions is scuba diving having previously been a scuba diving instructor. She is now looking forward to dipping into the Asia waters with her children in tow.
