Year 10 Students Work Together To Make IA Trip a Success

Late in April, Year 10 students ventured to Lin’An to take part in the International Award (IA). Three students have shared their experiences of how they thought the trip went and how it has already given them skills that they can adopt going forward.

Teaching Staff Donate Their Backs in Aid of World Book Week

During World Book Week, Secondary school teachers at BISS Puxi donated their backs in order to share the fantastic Literature we know and love, in celebration of World Book Week. Students were invited to find as many of the twenty quotations worn by teachers as possible, and to uncover the character who said them and the text they are from.

Acclaimed Artists To Teach at Summer Performing Arts With Juilliard

We’re very excited to announce the lead artists for this year’s music and dance programmes at Summer Performing Arts with Juilliard – both of whom are masters of their craft. Leading the music programme is renowned violinist Annaliesa Place. Annaliesa is the director of strings at Dwight-Englewood School in New Jersey and has performed across the US, Europe and Asia with ECCO, Classnotes, Alarm Will Sound, ACJW, Absolute Ensemble and Metropolis Ensemble.

Benefits of Buddy Reading at BISS Puxi

Many of the classes at BISS Puxi have ‘Buddy Classes,’ where the older children get the chance to pair up with a younger child and act as a role model to them. This could be the older child reading to them or perhaps even just listening to the young child read.

Battle of the bands

BISS Puxi Battle of The Bands 2016

From the 15 to the 22 of April, BISS Puxi held its first battle of the bands competition. The event was a huge success with 7 bands participating from both Primary and Secondary with over 25 talented pupils all ready to entertain the audiences. Students really enjoyed their favorite songs being played and got into the rocking mood, screaming while fist pumping their arms in the air with excitement.

Year 5 Trip

Year 5 Go on an ‘Out of the World’ Trip

Year 5 children have already launched into their Themed Learning topic about space. With astronaut training already completed, the children set off on their own voyage of discovery to the Shanghai museum of Science and Technology last week.

BISS Lion Cub

Supporting Nepal – Our Garden Party raffle raises 1800 USD!

Everard is an ambitious BISS Lion Cub who is off on a big adventure to Nepal. He packed his backpack and flew to Kathmandu on Monday 25 April to start a 3 week trek in the mountains. He will be following a tough route walking for about 6-8 hours a day and sleeping and eating in very simple settlements and trekking huts high up in rural Nepal. He will even sleep at Mount Everest basecamp!

King's Day

Shanghai Dutch School Celebrate King’s Day

Last Sunday, our Dutch school celebrated the King’s birthday with a traditional Orange Flee Market and a day filled with fun. The weather was kind to us and the kids truly enjoyed the different traditional games like ‘The King Dresses up’, ‘The Crazy Queen’, ‘Bag Skipping’ and ‘the Gingerbread game’.
