Tanzania Trip 2015

BISS Puxi students are builders for the weekend

During the last two days in Tanzania, the students' service work moved up to a new level of intensity. We were on a mission for ambition! To continue the development of the Kitefu Primary School, we started work on the staff accommodation that will provide space for four teachers and their families to live on site.

Fool's Gold Production

Less Than a Week Till Fool’s Gold!

The cast of ‘Fool’s Gold’ have been extremely busy these past couple of weeks, ensuring that their performances are polished and professional. We have now blocked out every scene, and are perfecting our character personas. Costumes have been brought, trialled and photographed, and the theatre programme has been made. The Key Stage Three students involved are beginning to get very excited indeed: next week, is show week!

Global Campus Launch

Global Campus Launches to Huge Fanfare in Primary

Tuesday 24 November marked the launch of what is set to be the start of an exciting opportunity for all those in the primary school. It was the official launch day of the newly rebranded Global Campus (formally known as Global Classroom). The launch assembly informed the children about the four key areas; What is Global Campus? What is a Global Passport? How do I get online? How can I get involved? Both students and teachers were excitement – all of whom were eager to get straight on to the new platform.

Tanzania Trip

Tanzania Day Three and Four Update

Last Thursday and Friday, our students who are currently in Tanzania were lucky enough to go on safari in the Tarangire National Park. It was a great two days of spotting zebra, elephants, giraffe, jackals, wildebeest, Impala and a huge range of bird species.

BISS Lions 2015

FOBISIA Games Under 15 Round up

We were delighted to welcome back last week, our Under 15 teams who performed magnificently at The FOBISIA Games in Hong Kong. The medal haul, 144 was impressive to say the least and is testament to the outstanding sports programme in place at BISS Puxi. The three day tournament is summarised by each of the teachers who attended the event.

Dutch School Circus

Hurry, Hurry, step right up: Circus Rolls into BISS Puxi

Last Thursday, primary school students from our Dutch school were fraught with anxiety. Some would say they were almost as nervous as when they met the King of the Netherlands. During the past 4 weeks, they had worked really hard on putting together a Circus performance and Thursday was Showtime.

Tanzania Day 2

Tanzania Day Two Update

On Wednesday, we returned to our three locations around Kitefu to complete the goat sheds that were started the previous day. The pupils got a lot more into the flow of the building work on this second day. As Sofia said, "we were working better as a team and more efficient!"

Tanzania Trip 2015

First Day in Tanzania Is a Great Success

Having safely arrived in Tanzania, our Year 9 and 10 students have already been changing people's lives for the better by getting involved in service work straight away. Firstly though, on Tuesday morning, we went on a walking tour of the Ngresi village to get a real taste of rural Tanzanian culture as well as seeing some of the great charity work that has already been done in the area.
