It’s Not Just About the Music

As our Global Orchestra students reflect on their incredible experience at the Juilliard School in New York, the trip has seen a blossoming friendship develop between two students from BISS Puxi and BISS Pudong. Leon Palmgren from BISS Puxi and Joung Jin Kim from BISS Pudong had never met before the trip but as two of the youngest participants in the Nord Anglia Education Global Orchestra programme, they’ve now become firm friends. The 16 hour flight from Hong Kong to New York meant the two students had plenty of time to get to know

    Singing in the Rain

New York has been experiencing the same wet weather as Shanghai recently with our Global Orchestra students having to perform their Up On The Roof concert in a school gym. This didn't ‘dampen’ spirits with the atmosphere warm, friendly and all of the students encouraging each other to perform their solos. The group has also been fortunate to view some of the sights of New York by spending 14 hours visiting Grand Central Station, Times Square, Central Park to name but a few. But it was time to get back to ‘work’ again with

Since the group arrived in New York, they’ve been very busy in rehearsals preparing for the Nord Anglia Global Orchestra concert on 30 June at The DiMenna Center for Classic Music. The group has enjoyed some downtime however which included a memorable dinner at the Hard Rock Café when students and staff engaged in a spontaneous show of singing and dancing in between meals.

Year 12 Student Reflects On Her Time In Cambodia

Activities Week 2015 was a tremendous success with students from Years 7, 8, 9 and 12 undertaking activities within China and abroad. Year 12 visited Cambodia and had a fantastic time helping to build homes and dams, restoring schools and teaching students, in addition to learning more about the history and culture of the country. Holly Walmesley from 12P has shared her experience of the trip and what it meant for her. Cambodia was a great experience and definitely something I would want to do again in the future. I learnt many things throughout the journey, including how important it is to give back.
