Extracurricular Activities

We want to provide all our students with the chance to extend their learning beyond the formal curriculum and so have created a wide range of extra-curricular activities that students can opt into at the end of the school day.

They can help students to build on their specific interests and fine-tune skills, which can help to develop hobbies. These hobbies, in turn, can pave the way for their future goals, dreams, activities and, in some cases, career.

There are further benefits from being involved in activities. It helps to develop social skills and make and maintain friends with like interests. Juggling activities with schoolwork even at a young age typically helps students to learn skills which are important later in life with time management and balance of responsibilities. There are positive emotional and physical health benefits for children and young people involved in sports activities. Confidence levels increase when children participate in activities they enjoy.

We have a huge range of ECAs on offer, ensuring choice and variety to suit the different personalities and interests of our students. Our ECA programme encompass sports, music, art, drama, technology, science, languages and much more, and we are always looking at creative new additions to our ECA offer.

For Primary children we offer around 60 different ECAs across the age ranges. They cover a range of subjects from super science to photography, from construction club to chess club. We always cater for a range of ECAs, covering sports, creativity, literacy, ICT, debating, eco-activities, science, drama and many more.

Secondary students also have access to a huge range. We now offer 80 different ECAs with around 450 students joining in with an ECA each week.  There are lots of opportunities, including (to give a flavour of the range on offer) many sports, photography, painting on canvas, acting for film, the Christmas pantomime, academic support and revision sessions, language programmes, gardening, newspaper editing, maths and science clubs.

We know that the children and young people who do best in school are those who put the most in.  ECAs are a great way to get involved, meet new friends, develop new skills and have fun.
