Week Beginning 10 October 2016

MESSAGES   

  • Please remember that children need a labelled waterproof bag containing their swimming costume, swim hat and towel on our Friday swimming day. Goggles are optional. Arm bands or other swim aids are not needed.
  • As the weather is beginning to change please make sure your child comes to school with suitable named outdoor clothes;  a raincoat with a hood and rain boots, which they can change into to go outside when it is wet. Please label all items with your child’s name!

COMMUNICATION, LANGUAGE AND LITERACY

Last week our Makaton signs of the week were please, thank you and more. This week we will be practising sister, brother, mum and dad.  It would be fantastic if you could support us at home by teaching and practising these signs in your mother tongue.

PHYSICAL DEVELOPMENT

In P.E. we have been busy learning ‘Stop’and ‘Go’. The children will continue to develop these commands whilst using the soft play equipment. The children will be encouraged to continue developing their spatial awareness by ensuring only one child is on the equipment at a time and that they wait until it is safe for them to take their turn. The children will also develop skills such as balancing, rolling and jumping while exploring different ways of moving across the soft play equipment.

In swimming the children will continue to develop their water confidence by splashing and playing fun games. The children will continue to use noodles and other water-aids to support their swimming.

EXPRESSIVE ARTS AND DESIGN

The children have really enjoyed using the sand kitchen with a real purpose to make ‘food’. There has been a variety of cupcakes, soups and birthday cakes made in the kitchen. We will develop this with the children by looking at menus and recipes and exploring what other possibilities they could make. Have you got a receipe book at home?

UNDERSTANDING THE WORLD

The children have responded really well to pirate poems and searching for buried treasure. Some of the children have dressed up and become real pirates for the day! There has also been map making and the children have used different marks as symbols on their maps.

This theme will continue to run alongside other activities this week. To link in with the children’s interest in cooking we will follow a simple recipe with the children and explore the changes that occur when we cook something.

DUTCH

Deze week kijken we terug naar  alle reizen die we gemaakt hebben de voorbije weken.  We gingen in de tractor van Boer Boris naar het strand, we maakten verschillende lange afstandsvluchten en sliepen in de nachttrein. 

We maken een reiskoffertje en vullen het met onze mooiste herinneringen.
