Week Beginning 21 November 2016

MESSAGES

  • We would appreciate any spare clothes you have at home to add to our collection. This includes socks, underwear, tshirts, jumpers and trousers . Children occasionally need to be changed and it is always good to have a selection ready. On this note if your child has borrowed any spares, could you please wash them and return them to school.  Thank you for your continued support with this.
  • We do our best to ensure the children’s hair is dried after swimming. To support us with this please can you make sure that your child brings a rubber swim hat. And a warm hat for outside play. Thank you for your continued support with this.
  • Please be aware that the days are getting colder and wetter and dress your child accordingly.  On swimming days girls may wear dark leggings and matching dark socks instead of tights to make it easier for them to get dressed.  A warm hat is also recommended.
  • Any photos and videos taken in school of groups of children during the normal school day should only be taken by school staff or with the agreement of school staff.  At no point should any images of children at school be shared using social media without the parents’ permission. Thank you for your support.

LEARNING THEME

This week we will be our whole primary school theme of ‘Poetry week’. On Friday all the children will dress up in their favourite poetry or Nursery rhyme costume. What will you be?

LITERACY         

We will be  celebrating all the wonderful authors and poets around the world. Our focus will be around Nursery rhymes with a particular emphasis on Humpty Dumpty.

Humpty Dumpty sat on a wall,

Humpty Dumpty has a great fall,

All the kings horses and all the kings men,

Couldn’t put humpty together again.

MATHS

We will have a focus on shape this week! What shape is Humpty? What shape are the bricks? Can you create a picture using these shapes?

KEY VOCABULARY

Oval, rectangle, triangle, square, circle, wall, egg, shape

EXPRESSIVE ARTS AND DESIGN

In our role play areas, the children will help create their own versions of the kings castle. How would you dress at the castle? Which role will you take? The children will take full ownership over this area, moving the furniture themselves and collecting all the items they need to stock the castle!

UNDERSTANDING OF THE WORLD

The children will investigate what happens to an egg when it is dropped. Can you predict what will happen? If you cook it will it do the same thing?

The children will then explore different materials and predict which one will protect the egg when it is dropped.  We will use bubble wrap, a plasic bag and a soft fluffy piece. Which do you think will work best?

DUTCH

Deze week staat alles in het teken van verjaardag.  We versieren de klas en eten taart naar aanleiding van Jules`v erjaardag.  In `Jules en de Sint`lezen we dat ook de Sint bijna jarig is!

In onze geschenkwinkel  pakken we kadootjes in  en krullen we de mooiste lintjes.

MANDARIN

THEME: Nursery Rhyme

Activities:

Make a bunny head band craft.

Body dance and movements related to the rhymes.
