Week Beginning 12 December 2016

We will be having a class Christmas celebration on Thursday 15th December. The children are invited to come to school in their party clothes on this day.

MESSAGES

  • Our Christmas lunch will take place on Wednesday 14th December. We are looking forward to enjoying traditional Christmas food along with crackers and festive decorations.
  • Week beginning 27th March is International Week and we will have the International Day Parade during this week. As many of you may be returning home for the Chirstmas vacation we would like to inform you of this upcoming event. This advance notice may give you an opportunity to prepare any clothes from your home country for this special event.

LEARNING THEME

During our final week of term before we break up for Christmas, we will talk about what the children are looking forward to doing  over the holidays.  Some children may be travelling on planes or trains to faraway locations. Others will be excited about seeing their relatives, and perhaps looking forward to a visit from Santa. We are looking forward to hearing all about their exciting holiday plans.

Communication and Language & Understanding the world

Since we are expecting a visit from Santa we will spend some time learning a little more about him. Who is Santa, what does he look like? We will look at pictures of Santa and notice his distinguishing features: his beard, his red clothes and hat and his sack of toys.

We will also be singing the following songs over the week:

When Santa got Stuck up the Chimney

Santa is his Name

MANDARIN

Topic:  Santa Claus and review

Song:  《Santa Claus》《圣诞老人》(sheng dan  lao ren)

Key Vocabulary:  Christmas tree 圣诞树( sheng dan shu)、Santa Claus 圣诞老人(sheng dan  lao ren)、Holiday 假期(jia qi)
