Week Beginning 12 September 2016

A quick reminder  that Thursday 15 and Friday 16 September are school holidays and we return  on Monday 19 September.

  • We had out first swimming session on Wednesday and it was very successful! Please remember that children need a labelled waterproof bag containing their swimming costume, swim hat and towel. Goggles are optional. Arm bands or other swim aids are not needed.

Thank you to all the parents that have already sent in a family photo. It has been wonderful to see how the children are becoming more confident at school, and showing their teachers and friends the different people in their photo has helped facilitate this. Since the children are so enthusiastic about their family photos, we will be continuing to use the theme of ‘Our Family’ as our focus .

We have begun to use some simple Makaton signs alongside key vocabulary with the children to support thir communication. Our Makaton signs of the week are toilet and washing hands . It would be fantastic if your could support us at home by teaching these signs in your mother tongue.

Wash, hands, toilet , “ I need the toilet”

The children love sharing thestory  ‘Owl Babies’  by Martin Wadell, which is about a family of owls. Mummy owl disappears and the three baby owls wonder where she has gone, and when she will come back. Of course Mummy does come back, and there is a happy ending. We will reinforce some of the vocabulary related to families and use puppets and props to retell the story.

Owl, night, mummy, baby, sister, brother, where?
