Week Beginning 10 October 2016

MESSAGES

  • Reading books should be returned to school daily so that the children can also read in school and it is important that you tick the children’s communication books when they read at home.
  • As the weather is beginning to change please make sure your child comes to school with suitable named outdoor clothes;  a raincoat with a hood and rain boots, which they can change into to go outside when it is wet. Please label all items with your child’s name!
  • Spare clothes: please remember that accidents do happen and it is very helpful to keep a spare set of named clothes in your childs cubby basket. Please include socks!

LEARNING THEME: HEALTHY CHOICES                           

THE BIG QUESTION: AM I MAKING HEALTHY CHOICES?

We will be talking to the children about healthy choices, particularly  in relation to diet and exercise. We will be asking the children to think and talk about the healthy choices  that they make and how they could make even more healthy choices every day.

LITERACY

We will be enjoying the story ‘Oliver’s Fruit Salad’ by Vivian French. Oliver does not like fruit but then he goes on a visit to his Grandmother’s home where she grows her own fruit and vegetables. Oliver has so much fun picking the fruit and vegetables that he ends up not being able to resist eating them!

KEY VOCABULARY

Development Outcomes

Understands a need for variety in the food that they eat.

PHONICS

We will continue playing some simple phonics games with the children to develop their listening skills.

MATHS

We will continue to practise 2D shape names this week, but we will also be focusing on learning about repeating patterns.  We will be making patterns using various resources, such as colours, shapes and natural objects.

DUTCH

Deze week kijken we terug naar  alle reizen die we gemaakt hebben de voorbije weken.  We gingen op reis met kikker en egel en vlogen samen met de 8 schijfjes  banaan de wereld rond.

We maken een reiskoffertje en vullen het met onze mooiste herinneringen.
