Week Beginning 19 September 2016

Please remember that this week the children will have their school photos taken. Children must be dressed in full school uniform.


  • Reading books should be returned to school daily so that the children can also read in school and it is important that you tick the children’s communication books when they read at home.
  • As the weather is beginning to change please make sure your child comes to school with suitable named outdoor clothes;  a raincoat with a hood and rain boots, which they can change into to go outside when it is wet. Please label all items with your child’s name!
  • Spare clothes: please remember that accidents do happen and it is very helpful to keep a spare set of named clothes in your childs cubby basket. Please include socks!


We will be looking closely friendships and how we can make them better. In this topic we will be looking at subjects such as gentle hands, sharing and listening to each other.


We will be talking to the children about what it means to be a friend? We will be asking the children to think about and share what they think makes a good friend and what they could do to be a better friend?


The children will be introduced to a variety of different social stories. These stories look at different ways to be a good  friend, such as listening and sharing. The children will have the opportunity to talk about these skills, make their own books about them and even share some great ideas about how to do it better. The children will also be encouraged to listen to their peers when they are talking and then to respond to what they said.

We will continuing playing some simple phonics games with the children to develop their listening skills and begin to focus on the sounds /s/ and /a/ and /t/. (sat, as, at).

Children will also be introduced to the next set of sounds /p/ and / i/ and / n/ and be looking at words with these sound in (sat, sip, tip, it, in).


We will continue working on our counting daily  this week and we will also be investigating the vocabulary: more and less. We will look  at varying amounts of objects and consider which group has less and which has fewer?

Deze week beginnen we aan onze wereldreis.  We lezen het boek `8 schijfjes banaan op wereldreis`van Pieter Gaudesaboos, een verhaal over het plezier van reizen én van thuisblijven. 

We vliegen met SDS Airlines naar India, Mexico en Kenia en Skypen met Thuisblijfschijfje over al onze wonderlijke avonturen.
