Week Beginning 5 December 2016

The Reception Christmas Play ‘Christmas Counts’  will be on the morning of 6th  December in Stage  One.  You will be able to take your seats from 9:00. The show starts at  9:30am so do get here in plenty of time to get a good seat! We do hope you will be able to attend.

MESSAGES

  • Christmas Lunch: Our school Christmas lunch will be on Wednesday 14th December.
  • The Reception Cubs Christmas Celebrations will be on Wednesday  14th December.  Please send your child to school wearing their party clothes.
  • Please be aware that the days are getting colder, so please dress your child accordingly.  On swimming days girls should wear dark leggings and matching dark socks instead of tights to make it easier for them to get dressed. 
  • We do our best to ensure the children’s hair is dried after swimming. To support us with this please can you make sure that your child brings a rubber swim hat. And a warm hat for outside play. Thank you for your continued support with this.

LEARNING THEME: GETTING READY FOR CHRISTMAS                              

As we prepare to perform our Christmas production we will be thinking about the other things we can do to help to celebrate this special time of year.

LITERACY- WRITING

We will be making and writing Christmas cards for our families and friends and also writing our own letters to Santa – how exciting!

EXPRESSIVE ARTS & DESIGN

We are really excited to perform our Christmas Concert to a live audience of our families and friends. We look forward to saying our lines clearly and singing all the songs beautifully!  Later on in the week we  will work together to make our Cubs environment festive looking!  We will focus on using our design skills to make some beautiful decorations.

PHONICS

We will continue playing some simple phonics games with the children to develop their listening skills.

We will also consolidate sounds the children already know. Check inside phonics packs to see if there are any new letters to learn. Here is a link to some useful apps that will support the phonics learning we are doing in school for phase two and beyond.

MATHS

In Maths, the children will continue to apply what they know about number, counting and calculation to mathematical investigations and problem-solving activities that are based around a Christmas theme.

DUTCH

De Sint vertrekt dinsdag terug naar Spanje maar niet getreurd, het volgende feest wacht al om de hoek.   Jules gaat met papa een kerstboom kiezen.

We zetten een kerstboom in de klas en ontwerpen onze eigen kerstversiering.  In Villa Letterpret zoeken we kerstwoorden die beginnen met  `b`.
