Week Beginning 16 January 2017

ECA/BISCAP/BISSLIONS Swimming Term 2: will start on Monday 16 January.

MESSAGES

  • Raincoat and Cold Weather- Please ensure that your child brings a raincoat to school for the wet weather and a coat now that the tempature has dropped.
  • Thursday 26 January will be the annual ‘Wear Red Day’ for the Chinese New Year celebration. Children can come dressed in red or in chinese costume.There will also be a Dragon dance at approximately 8:30am (once buses have arrived).  Parents are welcome to watch.
  • Swimming - Please be aware that the days are getting colder and wetter so please dress your child accordingly.  On swimming days girls may wear dark leggings and matching dark socks instead of tights to make it easier for them to get dressed.  A warm hat is also recommended.

LITERACY

In Literacy this week the children will continue learning about fiction stories related to superheroes.  They will listen to and discuss and wide range of superhero stories, as well as participate in discussions about what is read to them.  They will sequence sentences to form narratives and will follow their plans to write their own superhero stories.

THEMED LEARNING

Over the next two weeks, the children will be learning different textile skills through creating their own superhero cape. They will learn to print and dye fabrics as well as learning how to cut and apply different materials.

MATHS

Next week the children will begin to learn about multiplication, we will start by looking at doubling numbers then moving on to counting on in jumps of 5 and 10. After that we will be working on creating arrays and thinking of multiplication as 'lots of' and, once that concept is secured, we will be writing number sentences using the multiplication symbol.

COMPUTER PROGRAMMING  AND  DIGITAL LITERACY

Our coding lessons continue this week as the children begin to be more competent in their use of basic coding structures. The children are now creating codes for more than one character at a time.
