- Please ensure that your child has the correct school uniform. In particular please ensure your child is wearing black shoes. Girls should wear plain white socks and boys should wear black or grey socks. You can review the school’s uniform policy here.
- Please remember to send in and label your child’s snack box and water bottle, as well as a hat during the hot weather.
- If for any reason your child is unable to take part in PE, please send a signed message in your child’s communication book. Your child still needs to bring in their PE kit to enable them to participate as a coach, an official or to give feedback.
In Literacy the children will complete our unit of work on poetry. The children will learn how to use adjective s and adverbs to improve their writing. They will work in small groups to create ideas for a poem about a balloon. They will then write a poem that describes the movement of a balloon. During Guided Reading they will discuss shape poems.
In Maths the children will be learning how to measure accurately using cm and m. They will learn to choose the correct equipment based on the relative size and shape of the object. We will hold a Mini-Olympics so they can learn how to measure different distances and make estimations. To extend their knowledge further, some children will be asked to anaylse their data and convert cm into m.
In Themed Learning the children will become architects and interior designers. They will be learning how to sketch accurately using sketching pencils and become familiar with the different ways to shade their drawing. The children will use cameras to take pictures of buildings and features in the school and then draw an architect’s design of a building. Finally they will create a mood board to illustrate how their building will be furnished.
The children will be focusing on expressing their ideas, opinions and views with confidence.
Literacy – simile, poem, verse, adjective, verb, noun
Math’s – cm. m ruler, metre stick, estimate, analyse
Humanities – sketch, shade, tone

Children will learn to say 对不起duibuqi/sorry; 没关系meiguanxi/never mind; 谢谢xiexie/thanks; 不客气bukeqi/You are welcome. They will be able to recognize the characters “你/you” and ”不/no”.
Homework: Sing the song ‘Thank You’ and trace two characters.
Topic: Lesson 5. Fruits
Children will be talking about the fruits they like/dislike
Homework: Finish worksheet on “Fruits”, practising reading the chant learnt in class.
Deze week kijken we terug naar alle reizen die we gemaakt hebben de voorbije weken. We gingen op reis met kikker en egel en vlogen samen met de 8 schijfjes banaan de wereld rond.
We maken een reiskoffertje en schrijven onze mooiste herinneringen neer.
In de spellingsles maken we kennis met nieuwe vriendjes in de vriendjesflat.
Naar aanleiding van het kinderboekenweekthema `Voor altijd jong` beginnen we volgende week met een nieuw thema `Vroeger was alles beter! .
