Week Beginning 20 March 2017

Friday 24 March - Learning Showcase 9:00am- The students of Year 2 would like to invite you to share their learning from their Stories People Tell topic. For this showcase we will be focusing upon our Science work. During the showcase, the children will ask you to join them to design and make a listening device from junk materials. We will then carry out an investigation to test which listening device was the most successful. You will also have the opportunity to view a selection of other work the children have completed during this topic The event will last approximately one hour.

MESSAGES

  • Raincoat and Wet Weather- Please ensure that your child brings a raincoat to school for the wet weather.
  • Swimming - Please be aware that the days are sometimes cold and wet so please dress your child accordingly.  On swimming days girls may wear dark leggings and matching dark socks instead of tights to make it easier for them to get dressed.  A warm hat is also recommended.
  • To help support us with this event we would be very grateful if you could send in any junk material such; cardboard boxes, bottles, paper cups etc.

LITERACY

In Literacy the children will be focusing on reading comprehension. The children will be learning how to infer meaning from a piece of writing and hunt for evidence to support their choices. We will then read a variety of fiction and non-fiction texts and ask and answer questions about what we have read.

MATHS

The children will continue to revisit our work on 2D and 3D shapes, extending their understanding of the properties of the different shapes. Following this we will revisit our work on time.

This week the children will be continuing our three week investigation into Sound. The children will explore sound and how it travels and then will plan an investigation to test their theories.
