Week Beginning 31 October 2016

Please note there will be NO ECAs on Tuesday 1st  November or Thursday 3rd November due to the PTCs.  Children need to be collected at 3:30 or go home on the bus as usual.  BISS Lions swimming and BISCAP will continue as normal.

MESSAGES

  • We are looking forward to welcoming you to Parent Teacher Conferences on Tuesday 1st and Thursday 3rd November.
  • Please ensure that your child brings a raincoat to school for the wet weather.
  • Please remember to send in and label your child’s snack box and water bottle, as well as a coat during the cold/wet weather.
  • If for any reason your child is unable to take part in PE, please send a signed message in your child’s communication book.  Your child still needs to bring in their PE kit to enable them to participate as a coach, an official or to give feedback.

LITERACY

In Literacy the children will begin a new unit of work on Fantasy Stories. The children will begin the week by watching a short animation clip about a girl who travels on a magic adventure. The children will learn how to use conjunctions effectively to improve their narrative writing. During Guided Reading lessons the children will read and analyse the book The Magic Finger by the classic children, Roald Dahl.

MATHS

In Maths, the children will be revising their knowledge of addition and subtraction. Following this, the children will investigate the relationship between addition and subtraction by learning that addition is the inverse of subtraction.

THEMED LEARNING

In Themed Learning the children will be carrying out an investigation into the relative properties of different materials. The children will be designing and making bridges using a range of materials and then devising their own way to test the relative success of their bridges.

PSHCE

The children will be focusing on expressing their ideas, opinions and views with confidence.

COMPUTER PROGRAMMING AND DIGITAL LITERACY

This week the children will be learning to add a variable to a series of codes.
