Week Beginning 6 February 2017

We look forward to welcoming the students back on Monday 6 February and hope that everyone had an enjoyable Chinese New Year.

MESSAGES

  • Please note that there will be no ECAs on Tuesday 21 or Thursday 23 February due to Parent Teacher Conferences.  BISCAP and Swimming will not be affected.
  • Raincoat and Cold Weather- Please ensure that your child brings a raincoat to school for the wet weather and a coat now that the temperature has dropped.
  • Swimming - Please be aware that the days are getting colder and wetter so please dress your child accordingly.  On swimming days girls may wear dark leggings and matching dark socks instead of tights to make it easier for them to get dressed.  A warm hat is also recommended.

LITERACY

In Literacy the children will be learning to write letters. They will open the letters that their parents have posted in the Year 2 post-box and then look at the features of a letter. They will then write a letter focussing on asking questions and punctuating each question with a question mark.

MATHS

The children will be learning how to solve missing number calculations. They will investigate how finding the inverse can help to solve addition and subtraction calculations. The children will decide whether drawing a number line or finding the inverse is the most helpful when solving missing number calculations.

THEMED LEARNING

The children will be continuing our topic Stories from around the World by making animal puppets. The children will be learning the skills associated with working with textiles such as; cutting, sticking and dyeing. They will add further details by printing directly onto the fabric using the printing skills they experimented with last week.

De kinderen van year 2 beginnen deze week met de voorbereidingen voor ons toneel.  We creëren onze eigen versie van `Joris en de draak` en bedenken in welke verhalen de verloren wolf  nog zoal terecht komt.  Deze week ronden we eindelijk onze ridderopleiding af en  worden alle kinderen tot  ridders en jonkvrouwen geslagen waarna we een echt Middeleeuws banket houden!

Ook deze week werken we verder aan  het opfrissen van alle spellingscategorieën van groep 3 in het kader van de komende CITO- toetsen.
