Literacy

In Literacy this week we will continue a unit of work where the children will be writing adventure stories. The children will begin by creating a story map to plot their rainforest adventure. The grammar focus for the week will be ensuring that the children use the past and present tense accurately.

Mathematics

In Maths the children will continue to revise the previous weeks work and then begin to apply this knowledge to word based problems. The focus of the lessons will be very much dependent on the children’s individual strengths and weaknesses. Some of the areas the children might cover are; handling data, time, measures, shape and positional language.

Themed Learning

The children will be learning about the artist Henri Rousseau. They will begin by researching his paintings and finding out about his life. Following this, the children will look at his series of works based on his explorations in the rainforest. Using collage and media of their choice the children will create 3D pictures of the rainforest.
