MESSAGES

  • Now the weather is getting warmer, please could you encourage your child to bring in a hat and also a water bottle so that they remain well hydrated during the day.
  • Please label all school uniform, snack boxes and water bottles to avoid items getting lost in school.
  • Year 3 will be basing our work around ‘Charlie and the Chocolate Factory’ by Roald Dahl.  It would be fantastic if you could support the children out of school by helping them to read the book and/or watch the film to get them all ready for learning in class.

  • Wanted - Jumble items for Tanzania Table at the Garden Party

    We are a group of Y.8 & 9 students who are busy fundraising for the projects we will support in November when we travel to Tanzania on our amazing service project. We are looking for your help for contributions of second-hand toys, books and any other small unwanted household items for our Jumble Table at the Summer Garden Party. If you are leaving China or just having a Spring clean, please consider donating your unwanted items to our Tanzania Jumble Table. Please send them in to either the Primary or Secondary reception desks.

LITERACY

In Literacy this week, we will continue our unit on instructions. The children will planning and then writing a detailed set of instructions to describe how they built their suspension bridge the previous week. They will begin by focussing learning from the structure of good examples.  The children will then use their photographic steps as a launch pad for writing.  To be successful they will  extending their writing using imperative verbs, time connectives and causal connectives

MATHS

This week we will be covering problem solving linked to our Aztec work. We will learn Roman numerials as well as Aztec counting systems. The children will use their knowledge of these counting systems to work on and answer a variety of challenges.

THEMED LEARNING

In Science we will investigate the questions “How does a plant get water?” and “What plant part gets water?”. The children will learn  the importance of making detailed observations, drawing a picture of the experiment and labelling with annotations. They will also research the parts of a flower to help them understand their observations, to make conclusions from our experiment and to link back to the prediction.

COMPUTER PROGRAMMING AND DIGITAL LITERACY

In Digital Literacy we will continue to look at keeping safe on the Internet and carrying out safe searching for information. We will focus on looking at how to search effectively for information, choose the best information to meet their research needs, and how to record it. We will be using Microsoft Publisher to present research on chocolate and the Aztecs.

Kunst met een grote K
De Stip

De leerlingen van KS2 werken als ware artiesten aan hun stipgedichten en kunstige stippen. Alles mag en alles kan in het kader van de vrije expressie en zo lang het de taal verrijkt!

Op dinsdag 16 mei brengen we een bezoek aan de tentoonstelling van Peter Riezebos. De leerlingen krijgen les over kunstbeschouwing: ‘Kijken naar Kunst met een grote K’. Peter leidt ons zelf rond en de leerlingen krijgen zowel inhoudelijke als artistieke opdrachten.

Year 5 en 6 werken ook nog aan de afronding van hun kunstzinnige verhalen, passend bij een kunstwerk van een Belgische of Nederlandse kunstenaar. Magritte en Van Gogh zijn de grote favorieten.

Zeer binnenkort (afhankelijk van het afronden van de kunstwerken, verhalen en gedichten) zijn alle ouders van harte welkom op de opening van onze kunstzinnige expositie. Informatie volgt!

Year 3 / 4 Spanish – Ms Caldwell

Next week, we will continue to work on our Food Topic. We will design our own menu and aim to cook a Spanish recipe in the kitchen!
Homework this week is to find a simple Spanish recipe that we could make in around 40 minutes.

Next week we will be finalising the letters to our Spanish speaking pen pals in Vietnam.
Homework: To revise the use of me gusta, me encanta, no me gusta, detesto.

Year 3 / 4 French – Ms De Borger

Next week we will plan a birthday party.  We will pick a date, write an invitation and make a shopping list.  Joyeux Anniversaire!

This week’s homework will be adding your mum’s, dad’s and siblings ‘ birthday to the birthday calendar we’ve made in class.

La semaine prochaine, nous travaillerons sur les compléments circonstanciels. Pour les devoirs, il faut compléter les exercices sur les pluriels des noms donnée en classe.

Im Unterricht beschäftigten wir uns mit den bestimmten und unbestimmten Artikeln, tauschten aus über die Babyzeit und besuchten die Bibliothek.
Zu Hause sollten die Kinder ihre Babyfotos finden, Erinnerungen sammeln, Eltern befragen, wie es wohl war, als sie noch Babies waren. Sie sollen das dann aufschreiben.

La semana que viene vamos a seguir revisando gramática y ortografía que hemos cubierto hasta ahora para prepararnos para el examen de final de año. Para deberes, deben revisar lo que hemos hecho hasta ahora..
