  • Homework will be given out on Wednesdays and expected in on Mondays. 
  • Please ensure that your child has the correct school uniform. In particular please ensure your child is wearing black shoes. Girls should wear plain white socks and boys should wear black or grey socks. You can review the school’s uniform policy here.
  • If for any reason your child is unable to take part in PE, please send a signed message in your child’s communication book.  Your child still needs to bring in their PE kit to enable them to participate as a coach, an official or to give feedback.  If your child would be swimming, they should bring their normal PE kit.

LITERACY

This week the children will be continuing their work on persuasive writing by looking at car advertisements both in newspapers and on the television. They will be begin by looking at existing car adverts on the television and recording their own voice-overs that they think would sell that car, trying to incorporate as many of the persuasive features as they can.  They will then be using this knowledge and vocabulary to begin to write their own adverts. The children will be thinking of slogans and a hook to draw their audience in.

MATHS

In Maths we will be learning about units of measurement for length. Beginning with calculating the perimeter of simple shapes, the children will move onto investigating irregular compound shapes and using patterns to find solutions to problems. Following this, we will use our previous knowledge of place value and multiplying and dividing to convert different units and lengths of measurement. Provding that the weather is kind to us, we will also use measureing equipment to investigate the playground!

THEMED LEARNING

We will learn about some of the great artistic innovations of the 2oth Century and an associated respective artist includingIimpressionism, Post-Impressionism, Expressionism and Pop-Art. The students will have the opportunity to learn how to develop their skills with water colours and to use crayons and pastels to make lines to create images.

COMPUTER PROGRAMMING AND DIGITAL LITERACY

This week we will be looking at Computer Programming using Espresso. The children will practise using time in their code by creating simple animations using time events to make objects perform actions in a sequence. They will also learn that objects can be programmed to respond to their background or environment and begin to understand what the word ‘condition’ means in computer programming. They will consolidate their understanding of conditions in programming and learn how different types of conditions can be used in code for different purposes. The children will also be given a chance to use the App See-saw this week to show observations in their Literacy work and record voice-over ideas for car adverts.

Aanslutiend op de kinderboekenweek in Nederland start ons tweede thema: Vroeger was alles ...

We poetsen onze interviewtechnieken op ter voorbereiding van een interview met opa of oma op  Skype; onderzoeken wat opa’s en oma’s vroeger deden (want hoe is het leven zonder internet en iPad?), schrijven verhalen en denken na over onze families.

Graag ontvangen we van alle leerlingen familiefoto’s: papa, mama, broers en zussen, tante en ooms, neven en nichten en opa’s en oma’s.

Year  4 Spanish – Ms Argent Watson

This week we will be revising colours and facial features and will learn how to describe things as large or small. For homework children are revising the vocabulary they have been learning and will finish off the monster they have started to create.

Year  4 French:  Miss Wood

This week we shall be revising ways to describe people, learning how to express different nationalities and increasing vocabulary with new adjectives. The children will make matching and puzzle games to help them with the new vocabulary.
Homework: To research vocabulary connected to food. If you have no or limited internet connection, use the provided sheet to practise the words introduced this week.

Cette semaine nous allons travailler sur les son de la lettre s (nous devions faire ça la semaine dernière mais j’ai été absente jeudi) et sur le son « K ». Nous allons aussi travailler sur le verbe, identifier le verbe dans une phrase et  comprendre ce qu’est un infinitif.
Pour les devoirs, les enfants devront compléter des exercices de grammaire sur la feuille.

Im Deutschunterricht diese Woche haben wir die Nomen untersucht, und zwar die Kategorien wie Menschen, Kleidung, Tiere, Pflanzen, Essen und auf spielerische Weise die Rechtschreibung geübt. Grossschreibung stand ganz groβ auf unserem Programm! Zu Hause werden die Kinder das Thema Nomen wiederholen und im Booklet die KV „Auf dem Schulhof“ machen: dabei können dei Schüler selbst entscheiden, ob sie eine einfachere oder schwierigere Übung machen möchten. Die Seite bietet nämlich 2 Schwierigkeitsstufen.
Nächste Woche werden wir unser Unit 1 „In der Schule“ wiederholen und einen Test machen. Am Ende des Booklets sind die Seiten „Geübt und gekonnt“. Wir werden sie im Unterricht machen, aber wenn Sie Ihr Kind unterstuetzen möchten, schauen Sie sich die Seiten zusammen an.
