Staff Profile: Emma Lunt

Emma Lunt

Year Leader for Reception

Emma grew up in Harrogate in North Yorkshire, before going on to The University of Liverpool where she studied Classics, History and History of Art. She completed her BA degree at Camberwell College of Arts in London specialising in The History of Art and Design.

After a year working within Fine Art Publishing in London, Emma completed a CELTA qualification and began teaching EAL in Prague, Czech Republic. In 2003 she moved to Taiwan and spent three years teaching English in Asia, including a year in Shanghai. Teaching a range of students from 2 to 17 years old, ignited an interest in teaching young learners, especially very young learners which she was keen to pursue further. Returning to the UK she completed her teacher training, to gain Qualified Teacher Status (QTS), specialising in teaching Early Years and Key Stage 1. She then spent four and half years gaining a range of experience in nurseries and primary schools in South East England, working predominantly in Year 1 and Reception.

Emma had always hoped to return to Asia and the opportunity to return to the vibrant city of Shanghai with her partner and daughter was too good to miss.  The opportunity to work in a large team with a wealth of experience was also exciting professionally.

Emma has returned to Shanghai with her family and spends free time with her daughter and partner, exploring Shanghai. She also tries to find the time to swim and read and enjoys spending time with new friends.
