Andrew graduated from the University of Keele with a degree in Philosophy and Politics which he followed by taking the Postgraduate Certificate in Education at Nottingham University, specialising in Mathematics. He started his teaching career as a VSO volunteer in Papua New Guinea which was followed by a spell as a Mathematics teacher in a school in Ealing, West London.

He then spent 10 years at the British School of Lome, Togo, during which he undertook a number of roles including Head of Mathematics and DP Coordinator. He then came to BISS Puxi, spending six very happy years as Head of Mathematics, then DP Coordinator, then Head of the IB Academy. He then moved to Ecole Ruban Vert in Libreville, Gabon, spending 2 years as Head of Secondary and leading that school’s process of IB Diploma authorisation.

Andrew has been working with the IB Diploma programme for 18 years as a teacher (in Mathematics and Theory of Knowledge) or administrator and is also a Diploma examiner and workshop leader. Having worked at BISS previously, he has a strong attachment to the school and is very enthusiastic about returning here for the 2015/16 academic year.
