Rachel graduated from Liverpool John Moores University with a joint honours degree in International Business Studies and Spanish. She then went on to gain a Postgraduate Certificate in Primary Education at Liverpool Hope University. Whilst studying at Liverpool Hope she completed a teaching practice in Seville, Spain teaching Year 4 and 5 children. Shortly after this she secured a teaching position as a Key Stage 2 teacher at St Paschal Baylon Primary School in Liverpool, where she predominately taught Years 3 and 4. During her time there she co-ordinated modern foreign languages and the international dimension, gaining the full international award from the British Council. This involved setting up global links around the world, mainly with schools in northern India, which she visited as part of her professional development where she gave presentations to local teachers and pupils. She also helped support newly qualified and student teachers. She decided to come to BISS Puxi for a new challenge in one of the world’s most exciting cities.
Rachel has recently taken up skiing and hopes to continue this passion on the slopes of Japan whilst at BISS Puxi. She is a keen traveller and hopes to experience much of Asia during her time in Shanghai. After class, she enjoys photography, reading and cooking, particularly with her husband John. She enjoys learning new languages and is planning on attending Mandarin classes.
