Staff Profile: Elizabeth Wood

Elizabeth Anne Wood

Year 5 Class Teacher

After completing her BA in German at Warwick University, Elizabeth worked abroad for five years organising school travel tours. She returned to the UK to study for a PGCE in Primary Years and for eleven years was employed in schools in Luton and Hertfordshire. She also worked with the Local Education Authority to mentor student teachers, create county schemes of work, arrange Gifted and Talented programmes and introduce the use of computers in schools.

In 2003 she left the UK, initially for two years, working at an international school in the US. After four years she moved to China to continue in international education in Guangzhou, where she taught Mathematics in the lower secondary school. Loving living in China, wishing to return to Primary class teaching and desiring to work in a larger international setting, with students from all over the world, she moved to BISS Puxi in 2009, where she has been privileged to teach Years 4, 5 and 6. Elizabeth now specialises in making mathematics accessible and enjoyable for all children.

Elizabeth has a real passion for reading, learning about other cultures and independent travel. To relax she also enjoys learning about new technologies and doing any type of puzzle. Since being in China she has learnt to read and write basic Chinese and has explored the country extensively, the highlight of which was travelling to West Sichuan/Tibetan borders, taking a week to reach Yading National Park.
