Rachel graduated from the University of Sheffield with a BA honours degree in English Literature in 2007 and went on to work in brand management and advertising development for both national and global brands including O2, Diageo and Premier Foods. Opting for a career change, she later completed a PGCE in English and Drama at the University of Warwick and has spent five years teaching in an outstanding Academy in the UK. After first working as a Key Stage 3 leader, Rachel then became a leader of Key Stage 5 learning in Literature and Media Studies and has enabled students to achieve excellent results in these areas.
A desire to combine her love of working with young people with her love of exploring new cultures led to Rachel joining BISS Puxi this year. She is motivated by enabling students to achieve highly and inspired by the ways in which Literature is able to change the way people think and act.
Rachel has a particular interest in Gothic writing, Post-Modern theatre and the place of mythology and legend within Literature, as well as keen interest in Cinema. She enjoys live music festivals and, having once been a competitive figure skater, still skates recreationally whenever she gets the chance.
