Toby studied Marine Biology at The University of Wales Bangor and completed his PGCE at the University of Leeds. He has taught at a number of different schools within the UK, holding a variety of leadership positions both in and out of Science and was most recently the Head of Biology at The Alice Smith School in Malaysia.
He has also worked for AQA as an examiner for Biology A levels for the past five years and is currently studying for his Masters degree in Blended and Online Education at the University of Edinburgh, Napier. Due to his work with a number of international schools over the last few years he has also been awarded full membership of the Royal Society of Biology and is working on achieving his CSciTeach accreditation through this internationally recognised institute.
Science and specifically Biology is Toby's passion and he is always striving to extend his knowledge by staying up to date with new research that is taking place within the Scientific community. He decided to move to BISS Puxi as he had previously visited China and enjoyed the time he spent in the country. He chose to come to BISS Puxi as he was aware of its growing reputation for excellence.
Toby is a Wolves (Wolverhampton Wanderers) fan, which brings its own trials and tribulations. He is motivated by his own personal goals and targets, one of which is to learn Mandarin and be able to converse with the locals. He likes to relax by playing sports, including cricket, golf and tennis in his spare time as well as reading a variety of books, most recently “The disappearing spoon” by Sam kean.
