Of course, celebrating Spring Festival brings hope of warmer weather coming soon, and the many events taking place in our Spring calendar. It may have been a quiet time over the last few months since Project Week, but when we return there is a frenzy of activity planned and some exceptional experiences for our students.
Book Week this year takes the theme of Science Fiction to link with our visit from the UK National Space Academy. The Space Academy are bringing their team of master advanced skills teachers to conduct masterclasses to students from Year 10 upwards, in all three sciences and, in addition, to provide masterclasses to staff. There will also be an opportunity for parents and eager scientists to attend an evening lecture. During the planning visit, the team brought samples of debris from Mars which we got to hold, with promises of so much more to come during the two-day activity.
March will also see the return of some of the most popular events in the school calendar - International Food Fair and the Parade of Nations. A big thank you to the 60 eager volunteers here earlier in the week ready to make this a fantastic event for all.
Finally, March also sees the much anticipated Beauty and the Beast take centre stage. The orchestra pit is open, the orchestra and cast are practicing away, and the tickets are selling like hotcakes so be sure to get yours. This year launches a new event with the red carpet experience, dress in your West End theatre gear and come for an evening to remember with bubbles and canapes and VIP treatment (sorry only children from Year 3 and above for this grown up affair!)
So take this opportunity to rest and recharge it’s going to be a mad March!!
Finally, Xin Nian Kuai Le! - May the Year of the Monkey bring you and your family health, happiness and prosperity.
