This month, over 30 of Nord Anglia Education's leaders came together for the first time to develop the Global Classroom, one of our key educational programmes. Rather than senior executives, it is students from our 14 schools who are driving and shaping the future direction through a Global Student Council.

Each school has elected primary and secondary student leaders, who together form the Global Classroom Student Council. Every term, these young leaders meet by video conference to represent the views and experiences of students in their school, propose ideas for future developments and help to promote learning opportunities to their peers.

These student leaders are based in eight cities worldwide and are from years 5-13. Shaan Bhasin, year 5 at The British International School Budapest is the youngest of our student leaders. He said: “The first student council meeting was great. We got to meet the other Nord Anglia Education student leaders from around the world. I think being a student leader is really fun as we get to do meetings, talk with our school’s student council about ideas, make posters and talk about news that is going on in the Global Classroom.”

Jasmine Chang, year 9 at The British International School Shanghai, Puxi said: “It is a great honour to become a member of the Global Classroom Student Council and to be able to take part in the Global Classroom as a leader again.”

This unique role provides leadership experience on a global scale and is just one of the ways that the Global Classroom is developing confident and able learners who can collaborate, inquire, create, innovate and lead.

Created especially for students at Nord Anglia Education schools, the Global Classroom complements and extends the curriculum, providing opportunities for students to learn informally, interact with experts and collaborate with their peers in other Nord Anglia Education schools around the world.
