Nord Anglia Education, the world’s leading operator of premium international schools, and The Juilliard School, the world-renowned performing arts conservatory, announced today the formation of The Juilliard-Nord Anglia Performing Arts Program, a multifaceted collaboration involving an innovative arts education curriculum for students in grades K-12.

Developed by Juilliard in collaboration with Nord Anglia Education, the program seeks to inspire and equip Nord Anglia students with the skills, curiosity, and cultural literacy to engage with the performing arts throughout their lives. The Juilliard-Nord Anglia Performing Arts Program will begin in September 2015 at select Nord Anglia schools around the world, and is expected to expand to educate more than 20,000 students aged 3-18 at the organisation’s 31 international schools by September 2017.

Built around a varied core of key works of music, dance, and drama, the learning model for the curriculum will meld aesthetic education with hands-on activities in dance, drama, and music for all students. A component essential to the success of the curriculum will be a robust training program for Nord Anglia teachers and the development of a collaborative teaching community linking teaching artists from Juilliard’s network and teachers at Nord Anglia schools worldwide. Nord Anglia students, faculty, and parents will also enjoy school-based engagement with Juilliard artists in the geographical vicinity or on tour. Future programs will be available not only to students enrolled at Nord Anglia’s schools, but also to young people from the communities in which the schools are located.

“I am very pleased to build on our commitment to K-12 education through our collaboration with Nord Anglia Education,” said Joseph W. Polisi, President of The Juilliard School. “Through our pre-college division and K-12 programs in New York City public schools, Juilliard has provided young people with educational opportunities for nearly 100 years. The Juilliard-Nord Anglia Performing Arts Program will allow us to amplify these efforts to reach a new global generation of young artists and audience members, as well as establish productive relationships between Nord Anglia’s international schools and Juilliard’s worldwide community of performers and teachers.”

“We are delighted to enrich our students’ learning opportunities in dance, drama and music through the Juilliard-Nord Anglia Performing Arts Program,” said Andrew Fitzmaurice, CEO, Nord Anglia Education. “We believe in nurturing our students’ ambitions through a broad education which supports their intellectual, social and cultural development. Performing arts are integral to our approach due to their proven benefits to students’ learning, educational achievement and the development of key transversal skills valued by employers, such as creativity, collaboration and problem-solving skills.”
