Meet Amelia, who works as an Operations Officer at BIS Abu Dhabi:
Where is “home” for you?
Home is a place where you build beautiful memories, a place that makes you feel comfortable and you are surrounded by amazing people. It does not have to be blood-related, but with people close to my heart and one of them is BIS Abu Dhabi.
What do you do in Abu Dhabi?
I joined BIS Abu Dhabi in 2016 as the Operations Officer. I’m beyond grateful and thankful to be part of BIS Abu Dhabi team. This is the best school that I’ve ever worked with. Saying “thank you” is not enough for me to express how grateful I am for the support and guidance since I joined. I am helping to maintain and improve a good system in place, ensure the H&S policy is always implemented and all the staff, students and parents feel safe, protected and the wellbeing is being cared for in the organisation.

The ones that standout is a combination of trust and mutual respect of each employee working in BIS Abu Dhabi. The values that are lived, the teamwork and the opportunity for personal and professional development are among many things are my favourite about BISAD community. Working at BIS Abu Dhabi I feel more driven and motivated.
What do you enjoy most about living in Abu Dhabi?
Living in Abu Dhabi is a safe and secure place. The city is calm and the people are very friendly. It offers a wide range of activities, natural landscapes and great food.
Anything else you would like to share?
I was given the opportunity to work outside of the office and be part of the International School Trip -Switzerland Advanced Trek 2019 which involved safeguarding the students, collaborative approach among students and staff, meeting the parents, stretched my mental and physical capabilities, and reconnect with the environment. These exposures have strengthened my skills and drive for excellence. I am looking forward to another year to support school activities.
Outside the school, I love to travel and explore new places. Every destination has something unique to learn such as their cultures, traditions, people and places. Beautiful memories that we experienced with family and friends is something that we can always look back and reminisce. I enjoy running, swimming, cycling, playing basketball and spending time with my friends. I like outdoor activities but not with heights.
