IPC Unit “Myths and Legends”

For the Year 6 Myths and Legends exit point, the students were tasked to combine their knowledge, skills and understanding from their English lessons, where they had learnt the conventions of writing play scripts, with their learning in IPC which focused on myths and legends, to make scripts, backdrops and props for performances which they wrote themselves.

The students worked collaboratively in groups to write and perform their own plays based on myths and legends from around the world.

Our carefully selected teachers here at Léman are skilled in empowering students to make decisions and lead their own learning. During this unit, the teachers encouraged the students to work collaboratively, using their interpersonal skills to work effectively together. Once our teachers had provided the relevant knowledge the students needed, they then became facilitators - giving students autonomy to make decisions and present their learning in their own way. This resulted in children being able to make decisions, work well with others, and use their knowledge from different areas of the curriculum to accomplish an outcome which demonstrated their level of understanding.
