A blog written by our students in the Marketing and Media group

As a Round Square School, Regent believes in prioritising the development of your child’s abilities outside as well as inside the classroom. During this week, Regents held ‘IDEALS Week’ which allowed students to go on amazing regional, national and international trips. These trips included activities that provide our students with life-long skills we believe will drive them to become successful, well-rounded human beings.

Two of our several trips stand out greatly regarding the opportunities that they presented students with acquiring amazing water-sports skills! These are Sailing at the Royal Varuna Yacht Club and Surfing in Bali.

Our Bali trip held activities such as cleaning up beaches, yoga sessions and snorkelling; as well as surfing, of course! Students were able to expand on discoveries such as commitment to sustainability by helping with local problems, courage through facing their water-based fears and self-awareness by relieving stress practicing yoga- all while enjoying the beautiful Indonesian scenery around them.

Our Sailing trip also expanded on similar discoveries. Students found themselves pushing their limits as the weather seemed to be against them! However, they showed tenacity and amazing progress by the end of the week. This also shows the amount of courage our students developed as they continued with the activities every day, even though they faced obstacles such as bad weather conditions, the sunburns and, most notably, the capsizing! This residential trip was made particularly special as students and staff alike were able to enjoy some very breath-taking sunsets.
