Community
We are connected to our community. We collaborate rather than work alone. Within collaborative teams, we meet our commitments and responsibilities. We value our diversity. We believe that all people have inherent value. We are supportive of each other. We take care of one another and act with kindness.
International mindedness
We are responsible and knowledgeable members of local, national and international communities. LIS students and teachers come from a range of perspectives, values, and traditions. We build from diverse perspectives to generate a sense of common purpose. We share guardianship of our community and the planet. The learner profile is a set of ten dispositions that we value, demonstrate and expect. We call on these dispositions when confronted with challenges.
Integrity
We are consistent and persistent with process. "We plan, communicate, reflect, and re-calibrate in ways that clarify, commend, and model" (Carol Ann Tomlinson). We do our jobs well. We take ownership for our own actions and for our areas of responsibility. We believe that trust is vital to positive relationships. We are open-minded, ethical, honest and forthright.
Innovation
We work in a fast paced environment. The unexpected routinely challenges the normal way in which we do things. We are agile. We thrive on challenges. We respond to change creatively. We believe that innovation involves research, collaboration and good listening skills. We are open- minded because we recognize that our own solution is not the only possibility. We are prepared to suspend judgement until we are full minded. We look for sustainable, thoughtful solutions that are consistent with our values. We are proactive and rational.
