Katie is originally from beautiful New Zealand and has been teaching young children since 2003. She joined Léman in 2018 and has been part of the Early Years Reception team since then. This is Katie’s favourite age group to teach and she looks forward to another successful year with the children and their families.
Katie gained her Bachelor of Teaching from the Dunedin College of Education. She has worked in a variety of different philosophies and curriculums including Montessori, International Baccalaureate, Reggio Emilia and now, the International Early Years Curriculum. Katie worked in New Zealand up until 5 years ago when she came to China to experience working at International schools and within a new culture. Along with education, she also studied Environmental Sustainability and uses these ideas and concepts in her teaching.
Since moving to China, Katie has lived and worked in Chengdu. She has enjoyed spending this time exploring the city and further afield. She has studied Chinese Calligraphy and is continuing to work on grasping the Chinese language.
In her spare time, Katie is involved in organizing events and activities for an animal rescue organization. She also enjoys visiting the local parks, trying out new restaurants and attending workshops about traditional cultural skills and practices.
