On a rainy Sunday in June, a group of teachers from Lèman International School traded their usual classroom duties for a day of intense dragon boat racing. Led by Principal Mrs. Connor, a team of 10 teachers from school participated in the annual Dragon Boat Festival, showcasing their spirit, teamwork, and athletic prowess.

The young stars of Léman International School's Upper Primary take center stage on June 4, 2024 for a spectacular Summer Concert like no other! In a celebration of talent, creativity, and boundless enthusiasm, our students showcased their musical prowess and artistic flair in an unforgettable performance that captivated audiences of proud parents. From inspiring vocal to amazing violin ensembles, and captivating pop group performance, culminating in a high energy finale, the summer concert left everyone with smiles on their faces and melodies in their hearts.

This past week has been an exhilarating journey for our Year 6 students as they embarked on their transition into the Middle Years Programme (MYP).

At Léman International School, Diversity Day isn't just an event; it's a vibrant celebration of cultures, traditions, and the beautiful tapestry of humanity. Despite the threat of rainfall, the day unfolded seamlessly, filled with joy, learning, and connections.

The Virtual Young Musician of the Year Competition, one of our big Nord Anglia Global Campus events, recently came to a thrilling conclusion. Students from Léman International School, as well as other schools within the Nord Anglia family, showcased their exceptional musical talents in this highly anticipated event. After a rigorous selection process, the winners of this year's competition were announced.

In the heart of every musician lies a passion that transcends age, a desire to express oneself through rhythm, melody, and harmony. This passion was palpable and electrifying as lower primary, upper primary, and secondary students clashed in the epic musical showdown of “The Battle of The Bands”. With creativity as their compass and music as their weapon, these young talents transformed school halls into arenas of excitement, leaving spectators spellbound and tapping their feet to the beat.

After 17 hours of travelling, we finally arrived at Tanzania, and the first thing that we did was to go on a safari. The safari is in the National Park of Tanzania. We saw many animals in there, monkeys, lions, elephants and so much more. But as the sun started getting lower and lower, our team ate dinner and slept in the African bush, in the national park.

A good leadership team plays a vital role in the academic progress and sustainability of a school, and for the upcoming 2024-2025 school year, we are proud to introduce the Academic Leadership Team of Léman International School Chengdu.

This year, Léman International School Chengdu has successfully held two Open Days, and we are always enthusiastic and open to invite students and parents from all over the world to join us on this unique journey of discovery. We look forward to showcasing our quality international education to you. On the Open Day, you will have the opportunity to take part in the Parents' Presentation to learn more about our school's educational philosophy, visit our beautiful campus to experience the rich academic atmosphere, and have your questions answered by the school management on-site. We will also share our unique curriculum and a wide range of programme activities. Over the next three months, we will be hosting five more Open Days for students of different ages, and we look forward to welcoming all families to join us in an immersive Open Day experience.

In a world where environmental concerns are at the forefront of our minds, the International Baccalaureate's Creativity, Activity, Service (CAS) program stands as a beacon, guiding students toward meaningful engagement with their surroundings. Recently, a group of Year 12 students, along with Mr Fletcher (CAS Coordinator) and Ms. Ivy (Social Impact Lead) embarked on a journey of conservation and learning at the Dujiangyan Panda Base, an experience that left a lasting impact on both the students and the local community.

Women's success and empowerment are essential catalysts for a more equitable and thriving world, inspiring generations to break barriers and reach new heights of achievement. By recognising and celebrating their accomplishments, we amplify the voices and contributions of women, paving the way for a brighter future for all.  At school on Friday the 8th of March, we are celebrating and raising awareness of the accomplishments of women in the past, and present and how women empower and continue to shape our future generations of children.

At Léman, our priority is to provide an unparalleled learning experience for our students. Our dedicated teachers strive to come up with innovative and creative ways to engage and inspire their students. This philosophy is exemplified by our Year 5 team who recently transformed a classroom into a crime scene as part of their latest Writing topic: mystery stories.

On International Mother Language Day, a vibrant celebration unfolded at a secondary school as they hosted an outdoor music concert. To commemorate this special day in Primary School, the children took part in a language word hunt that inspired our young learners to think about the wide range of languages we speak in school.

On February 7th, the 28th day of the Chinese lunar twelfth month, the annual Chinese New Year celebration of Léman has finally arrived.

At Léman International School Chengdu, we were excited to host the highly anticipated League Cup which was run by Little Kickers. As a school known for fostering a love for sports and encouraging teamwork, it was a perfect opportunity to showcase our values and witness the incredible talent of our students.

We are proud to announce that Léman International School Chengdu has been shortlisted for a prestigious China Schools Awards in the category of Enterprise and Employability. Our entry was named “Ambassadors for the Future”.  The China Schools Awards are organised by The British Chamber of Commerce in China. The China School Awards aim to celebrate and recognise the achievements and best practices of international-oriented K-12 educational institutions across China.   Our entry for the awards focuses on the impact our education and high academic standards have on our students and their successes at university and beyond.

The World Scholar's Cup (WSC) is an international academic competition that was founded in 2006 by Daniel Berdichevsky. The competition aims to motivate students to discover new interests and develop critical thinking skills across various disciplines, including science, literature, history, and the arts.

We are thrilled to share some incredible news about one of our outstanding students, Kate!   Kate has once again proven her academic excellence by receiving an offer from the prestigiousThe University of Hong Kongto pursue Economics and Finance. What's more, she has the opportunity ofa full scholarship of HKD 182,000 per annum—an outstanding achievement and a testament to her hard work and dedication.

As we approach the end of another remarkable calendar year, I wanted to take a moment to reflect on the journey we have shared together during my first term as your Principal at Chengdu LIS and express my heartfelt gratitude for your unwavering support and commitment to excellence.
