Football Tournament in the Upper Primary School

Football Tournament in the Upper Primary School - Football Tournament in the Upper Primary School

The football enthusiasts in the Upper Primary school took part in a mini football tournament. By happy coincidence the timing of this event coincided with Chinese Children's Day, so I'm sure everyone involved had an enjoyable time! The tournament was played in the spirit of fair play and camaraderie that I would expect from Léman students!

Four teams, formed especially for the event, entered the tournament but there could be only one winner. Couch Potatoes prevailed on penalties after a 1-1 draw with Unbeatable PSG in the first semi-final with a brilliant winning penalty scored by their captain, Crius. In the second semi-final, Burning Dragons were unfortunate to miss out on the final after putting up strong resistance against Liverpool, going out on penalties after a 0-0 scoreline. Burning Dragons and Unbeatable PSG were able to dust themselves off and recover from their defeats and play out the game of the tournament in a 1-1 draw, with both captains, Viggo and Vladimir respectively, scoring. Eventually, this game was also decided on penalties in favour of PSG.

The final itself was an exciting game, despite a nervous start which demonstrated the stakes for both sides. After a few chances for both sides, they could not be separated, and the match went to golden goal extra time, after being 0-0 after 15 minutes. With just 28 seconds left before another shootout, Jason scored the winning goal and Crius led his side to a 1-0 win. Congratulations to Couch Potatoes on a great victory!
