Recently, exciting news came from Léman International School Chengdu. At last month’s ESU Youth Public Speaking Competition (Asia Round held in Macau, China), our students achieved outstanding results. Three students won awards, and two have successfully advanced to the Global Round.

The ESU Youth Public Speaking Competition is an international contest organized by the English-Speaking Union. It is designed to help young students develop their English language skills, confidence, and public speaking abilities.
The competition usually includes two main parts. In the Prepared Speech, students prepare a speech on a given topic in advance and present it clearly and confidently. In the Impromptu Speech, students receive a topic on the spot and deliver a short speech after brief preparation, demonstrating quick thinking and strong expression.

Through this competition, students gain valuable experience and improve their ability to communicate ideas clearly and confidently in English. The following are the achievements of our students in the competition:

Gold Award (2 students)
Nikol S. (Year 6) – Impromptu Speech
Louise M. (Year 8) – Prepared Speech
Silver Award (1 student)
Louise M. (Year 8) – Impromptu Speech
Bronze Award (1 student)
Nikol S. (Year 6) – Prepared Speech
Excellence Award (1 student)
Adam Y. (Year 8) – Impromptu Speech

We warmly congratulate all award-winning students. We wish all our students continued progress and greater success on their journey in public speaking and English learning. We also look forward to the excellent performances of those advancing to the Global Round!
