Last week, our school had the wonderful opportunity to welcome the esteemed UK author Nick Toczek for a visit that our Early Years and Primary students will cherish.

Nick shared his passion for storytelling in a warm and inviting manner, engaging students with a delightful blend of magic, puppetry, and poetry. While our Early Years children were captivated by his gentle magic tricks and charming puppetry, they also enjoyed listening to his enchanting poems. Nick took the time to guide them through creating their own simple poems, igniting their imaginations and encouraging their love for words.

For our Primary students, Nick offered insightful poetry readings and facilitated a unique writing workshop. He taught the students how to easily craft rhymes using names and actions, creating fun examples like, “Where’s Sue? She is at the zoo,” or “Where’s Joe? He is playing in the snow.” And “A kangaroo named Stu, who lived in a zoo.” His calm and thoughtful approach made the workshop both enjoyable and educational, allowing students to explore the art of poetry with newfound confidence.

This visit was more than just a chance to meet a real author; it was a valuable experience that fostered a love for reading and writing among our students. Nick Toczek’s warmth and thoughtful guidance left a lasting impression, making it a day filled with inspiration.
We extend our heartfelt thanks to Nick for sharing his wisdom and creativity with us, and to all the students for their enthusiastic participation.

We look forward to more enriching events like this in the future!
