STEAM Festival 2026: Exploring Life on Mars - STEAM

Students from different Nord Anglia Education schools came together to participate in this year’s exciting STEAM Festival, where the main theme focused on Life on Mars. Throughout the two-day event, students explored one big question: How can humanity survive on Mars in the future?

Working in mixed teams with students from different schools and backgrounds, participants collaborated to design innovative solutions for living on Mars. Their ideas included futuristic houses, transportation vehicles, sustainable systems, and survival technologies. Many groups also explored biomimicry by studying how animals and plants adapt to harsh environments and applying those ideas to life on Mars.

During the festival, students participated in a variety of hands-on workshops to develop new skills and strengthen their understanding of STEAM concepts. These workshops included activities such as transforming 2D ideas into 3D crafted models, learning about water filtration systems, experimenting with 3D printing, and many other creative engineering and design experiences.

The festival encouraged teamwork, creativity, communication, and problem-solving as students worked together to research, plan, design, and build their prototypes. By the end of the event, each team presented their final prototypes and detailed presentation boards showcasing their findings, research evidence, design process, and proposed solutions for surviving on Mars.
