Léman Shines on NAE Virtual Young Musician!

Léman Shines on NAE Virtual Young Musician! - NAE Virtual Young Musician

We are delighted to celebrate an extraordinary year for the Performing Arts at Léman International School Chengdu, with three Global Winner awards in the Nord Anglia Virtual Young Musician of the Year competition.

This year’s event brought together 3,758 student musicians from 57 Nord Anglia schools around the world, making these achievements an outstanding accomplishment on the global stage. To have three winning entries from one school in a single year is a remarkable reflection of the dedication, artistry, and passion of our students and teachers.

This year’s Performing Arts theme at Léman, Drawn to Discovery, has encouraged students to explore creativity with curiosity, courage, and imagination — and these performances beautifully embody that spirit.

Congratulations to Yi Chen (1A), winner of the Age 7 and Under Art Music – Vocal category for his joyful performance of Do Re Mi by Richard Rodgers and Oscar Hammerstein II. Over many months of preparation at both school and home, Yi Chen worked closely with his vocal coach and teachers to develop a performance full of confidence, expression, and charm.

We also congratulate Youyou (4B), winner of the Age 7–11 Art Music – Piano category, for her moving performance of Turkish March by Christian Köhler. Her playing demonstrated both technical precision and emotional depth, showcasing the results of years of dedicated musical study.

Finally, a huge congratulations goes to our Primary Choir, winners of the Age 7–11 Vocal Ensemble category for their performance of Whisper by Greg Gilpin. Under the direction of Ms. Hamida, students brought the piece to life through expressive singing, thoughtful staging, and engaging choreography that explored the excitement — and consequences — of sharing a secret.

We would also like to celebrate all of the Léman students who stepped onto the global stage this year by sharing their artistry with an international audience. Taking part in a competition of this scale requires tremendous courage, dedication, and vulnerability as young performers.

Congratulations as well to Austin (Year 8 Piano), Soyul (Year 7 Flute), Hunter (Year 8 Musical Theatre), Olavo (Year 5 Musical Theatre), the MYP Rock Band, and the Léman Instrumental Ensemble for their wonderful performances and for embracing the spirit of *Drawn to Discovery* through music and performance. We are incredibly proud of their hard work and look forward to seeing their artistic journeys continue in the years ahead.

At Léman, we believe the Performing Arts help students discover not only artistic skills, but also confidence, collaboration, resilience, and joy. These global recognitions are a wonderful celebration of the thriving artistic culture within our school community.
