It is with great pleasure and excitement that we introduce Mr. James McMeekin as our Head of Primary School at Léman International School Chengdu for the 2026-2027 academic school year.
Holding a master’s degree in education leadership from the Open University, UK, Mr. McMeekin combines strong academic grounding with hands-on leadership excellence. He also holds a Postgraduate Diploma in Education (Primary) from the University of Edinburgh and a Master of Arts (Hons) in Business Studies. His professional qualifications include DSL Level 3, Safeguarding Level 3, First Aid, WASC Visiting Committee Member Training, and completion of the NAE Senior Leaders Programme and Middle Leaders Programme.
Mr. James McMeekin is an experienced and dedicated school leader with over ten years of outstanding practice in international education. He currently serves as Deputy Head of Primary at BVIS Hanoi, a Nord Anglia School, bringing deep expertise in learning technologies, school accreditation (CIS / WASC), safeguarding, bilingual education, EAL provision, and British curriculum (EYFS & Primary) leadership.
Since joining BVIS Hanoi in 2017, Mr. McMeekin has taken progressive leadership roles, including Assistant Head (Academic) and Deputy Head (Pastoral). He has successfully launched service-learningprogrammes, enhanced EAL provision across Primary and Early Years, built a strong data-driven culture, and re-launched and led the summer school for 200 students.
Prior to BVIS Hanoi, Mr. McMeekin worked at Traill International School (Bangkok) and West Lothian Council (Scotland), where he developed systematic assessment systems, introduced edtech-enhanced pedagogies, designed computing curricula, and led student health initiatives. He also has extensive experience in residential camp management, learning centre leadership, and teacher training in the UK, demonstrating exceptional team management, programme development, and student welfare capabilities.
Beyond school life, Mr. McMeekin is a founding member of Hanoi Badminton, Hanoi’s largest badminton community, fostering cross-cultural engagement and well‑rounded development.
