Grant Team Year-End Review: Giving Back, Growing Together

Companionship at Jinxin Hospital

This school year, our Grant Team made regular visits to the Chengdu Longquanyi Jinxin Chronic Disease Hospital, a place we've worked with for years. We did crafts like clay flowers, donated clothes and daily necessities, and most importantly, spent quality time with the elderly.

Under student leadership, we've consistently organized weekend visits. After December, we ran two more in Term 3, celebrated birthdays in June, and donated wheelchairs, shower chairs, and other needed items with support from the NAE Grant Fund.

A special shout-out to Year 11 teammates Minwoo and Jeremy, who showed up every single Saturday for six months — chatting, doing crafts, handing out snacks. For those who can't move around easily, their weekly visits have become a true source of comfort and joy.

A Day Out with Special Needs Children

In November, we organized a Saturday trip for Y9 to Y13 volunteers to spend the day with special needs children. We headed to the park for an afternoon of crafts, outdoor games, and singing. Nothing complicated — just being there, playing together, sharing laughter. For these children, a warm and joyful companion makes all the difference.

 What We Learned

As a team, we've learned that small acts of kindness, done consistently, can bring real warmth to others — and to ourselves. Through our actions, we hope to inspire more young people to care for the elderly and children with special needs in our community. A little time, a little attention — it all adds up. And it starts with each of us.
