Exceptional Learning Environments Designed for Curiosity

When parents visit a school for the first time, they often notice the campus before anything else—the classrooms, science laboratories, library, theatre and sports facilities.
But what matters most isn't what a learning environment looks like—it's what happens inside it.
At Léman International School Chengdu (LIS), every learning space is designed with purpose. From Early Years classrooms to specialist laboratories and creative studios, our campus encourages students to ask questions, collaborate, create and think independently. Every environment reflects our belief that learning should be active, engaging and inspiring.

Where Curiosity Begins
Learning starts with curiosity, and nowhere is this more evident than in our Early Years.
Our newly expanded Early Years learning environment will be completed in time for the new school year, featuring larger, brighter classrooms filled with natural light alongside thoughtfully designed outdoor learning spaces. Children will enjoy a dedicated cycling track and an interactive water stream, in addition to a water-pumping station, gardening area, mud kitchen and music garden. Together, these spaces encourage children to learn through play, explore the natural world and develop confidence, creativity and independence from their very first days at school.

Learning Beyond the Classroom
Different subjects require different environments, and our specialist facilities allow every student to learn by doing.
Throughout the campus, classrooms are flexible spaces where students move naturally between independent work, collaborative projects and teacher-guided learning, creating an atmosphere that is purposeful, energetic and engaging.
Creativity, Confidence and Character
Education extends far beyond academic success.
Through our professional theatre and the world-renowned Juilliard Performing Arts Programme, students build confidence by participating in concerts, productions, choir performances, Battle of the Bands and Léman's Got Talent. These experiences develop creativity, communication and self-expression.
Sport is equally important in helping students grow. Our indoor sports hall, indoor swimming pool, football pitches and 400-metre athletics track provide outstanding opportunities to stay active, compete and develop teamwork and resilience. Students regularly represent LIS in CISA and Nord Anglia competitions, while our role as a host school for regional sporting events—and expanded participation in FOBISIA competitions from next year—offers even more opportunities to compete, lead and thrive.
Technology That Supports Learning
Technology is integrated naturally into everyday learning, helping students research, collaborate, solve problems and present their ideas with confidence. Rather than replacing excellent teaching, it enhances it, ensuring every digital tool has a clear educational purpose.
As AI becomes part of everyday life, students learn to use it responsibly and effectively to support research, creativity and critical thinking.
By combining innovative technology with outstanding teaching, we prepare students not only to navigate an increasingly digital world, but to thrive in it.

Learning You Can See
One of the clearest signs of an outstanding school is student engagement.
Walk through LIS and you'll see students asking thoughtful questions, working together, solving problems and taking ownership of their learning. Teachers know every learner well, lessons are purposeful and classrooms are full of energy and curiosity.
Because exceptional education isn't created by impressive buildings alone.
It's created by exceptional learning experiences inside them.
