Drawn to Discovery, Driven by Purpose: Arts Students Raise Over 6,000 RMB for Social Impact

Throughout the 2025–26 school year, the Arts Department invited students and audiences to embark on a journey of creativity through our season theme, Drawn to Discovery. Across performances, exhibitions, and community events, students explored new ideas, developed their artistic voices, and discovered the power of the arts to connect people and make a meaningful difference.

That spirit of discovery extended far beyond the stage.

Through performances, exhibitions, and community events across the year, the Arts Department raised more than 6,000 RMB for the school's Social Impact Programme. Contributions came from events including Merry and Bright, Arts in the Lobby, The Kid Who Couldn't Stop Drawing, and our year-end concerts, Sound Meets Movement and Sound Becomes Expression.

The Social Impact Programme uses these funds to support a variety of community initiatives, including assisting low-income families with children with disabilities by helping cover nutritional and rehabilitation expenses, providing daily necessities and mobility support for elderly people facing financial hardship, organizing student volunteer opportunities that connect young people with vulnerable members of the community, and supplying essential items to the Chengdu Black Bear Rescue Center.

These initiatives reflect a powerful lesson for our students: discovery is not only about learning something new, but also about discovering how our talents, creativity, and compassion can positively impact the lives of others.

Throughout the year, students took creative risks, explored unfamiliar artistic forms, shared their work with authentic audiences, and collaborated across disciplines. Whether performing on stage, exhibiting artwork, or supporting events behind the scenes, they demonstrated that the arts are about more than performance—they are about communication, empathy, and community.

As we celebrate a successful year of artistic achievement and social contribution, we are also excited to look ahead to the 2026–27 season.

The World Beyond: Stories of Wonder and Possibility

Next year's theme invites students and audiences to imagine what lies beyond the familiar. Through stories of adventure, imagination, discovery, and transformation, students will explore new worlds and new possibilities while continuing to develop their creativity and artistic confidence.

As one journey ends and another begins, we are grateful to the students, staff, families, and audience members whose support made this year's achievements possible. Together, we demonstrated that the arts can inspire discovery, build community, and create meaningful change.

The more than 6,000 RMB raised this year represents far more than a fundraising total. It reflects a community coming together through creativity, performance, and shared purpose. Every ticket purchased helped extend the impact of our students' work beyond the stage and into the wider community.
