Learning Together: Parents Open Class in Léman

Recently, our Early Years and Primary School welcomed parents into classrooms for special Parent Open Class sessions, giving families a closer look at their children’s learning experiences and creating opportunities to learn, explore and connect.

A Window into Everyday Learning

For many parents, seeing their child in the classroom offers a unique perspective. Rather than simply hearing about what happens at school, parents had the opportunity to observe lessons in action, see how teachers support learning, and discover how students engage with their classmates and their learning environment.

From focused learning activities to moments of curiosity and collaboration, parents experienced first-hand the energy and enthusiasm that fill our classrooms every day.

Learning Side by Side

The sessions were not just about watching — parents were also invited to join in the learning.

Across our Early Years and Primary classrooms, parents took part in their children’s class. They explored ideas, completed tasks, solved challenges, and shared moments of discovery together.

For our younger learners, having a parent beside them in the classroom creates an especially meaningful experience. Children were excited to show their parents what they had been learning, while parents could see their children's growing confidence, independence, and creativity in action.

Open Classes provide an opportunity for families to better understand not only what children are learning, but also how they are learning — through inquiry, collaboration, creativity, communication and hands-on experiences.
