Year 2 IPC Exit Point – Time Travellers

This term, our Year 2 learners have been busy stepping into the shoes of historians — and the results are nothing short of remarkable. As part of their IPC Time Travellers unit, each student created a personal history project, and the depth of thought and care that went into every piece was wonderful to see.

The journey began with research. Each learner chose a famous historical figure and set about creating a fact file, digging into books and classroom resources to uncover the key events, achievements, and quirks of their chosen person's life. From queens and explorers to inventors and artists, the range of figures brought to life in our classroom was impressive.

But the learning didn't stop there. Every student then turned the spotlight on themselves, decorating their very own "Museum of Me" box with photographs from different times in their own lives — baby pictures, birthday memories, and proud moments, all carefully chosen and arranged. Alongside their boxes, they crafted detailed family trees, tracing their roots and discovering where they come from, and built timelines of their lives, mapping out the moments big and small that have shaped them so far.
Perhaps the most personal touch of all was the artefact description. Each learner selected an object special to them and wrote about what it meant and why it mattered — a wonderful exercise in reflection and storytelling.

The unit culminated in a fantastic Exit Point, where families were invited to explore the exhibits and hear the stories first-hand from our young historians themselves.
Projects like this remind us that history isn't just about the past — it's about understanding where we've come from and who we are. Our Year 2 historians have shown curiosity, creativity, and genuine pride in their work, and they should be incredibly proud of what they've achieved.
