Each daily lesson group of 3-4 pianists is assigned to one piano faculty for the duration of the programme. Each pianist receives individualised instruction in master class style lessons and benefits from experiencing the learning of their peers.
One-on-one practice help is offered daily with Juilliard artist faculty on a sign-up basis for both solo and ensemble repertoire. This is an opportunity for pianists to work through passages, ask questions, and gain additional perspective from other faculty members.
Studio Performance Class
Pianists perform in studio classes, scheduled every other day. Pianists benefit from performing regularly and hearing their colleagues perform. Additionally, the studio shares feedback with one another and discusses aspects of performance.
Piano Ensemble and Chamber Music
Each pianist is assigned a piano ensemble or chamber work with strings musicians, and scores are sent in advance of the programme. Ensembles rehearse daily and receive coachings by multiple Juilliard artist faculty in preparation for final performances.
Pianists choose from a variety of Artist Seminars to enrich their learning. Seminars draw on the expertise of Juilliard artist faculty members and their vast experiences in the profession. Sample topics include:
- Managing Performance Anxiety
- Great Pianists: A Multimedia Presentation
- Changing Role of the Pianist
- Music Theory and Ear Training
- Song Accompaniment
- Dance/Piano Collaboration: The Rite of Spring
